Yellow Cat

This is Snow. He turned yellow one day in late November and we rushed him to the vet/animal hospital. We brought him home on December 2, 2006. We began syringe feeding him and giving him "SubQ" fluids on a daily basis. It was a very trying process. He was very, very lethargic, and extremely sad looking. He wasn't able to get up to go to the bathroom, he didn't purr, and he never cleaned himself.

After three weeks, he showed small signs of improvement, he was able to walk around, he moved out of hiding on onto the couch, and he was eating nearly 150cc's (up from starving himself) of food a day (without throwing up.) He even began purring, and showed signs of using his litter box 80% of the time. We were relieved...and hopeful!

On Christmas Day, unfortunately, we woke up to an even sicker little kitty. Snow was unable to move, and he stopped eating, and was drooling and struggling to breath. We think he had an URI that had caused him to backslide - dramatically. We determined to give him some antibiotics and wait until Scott's parents left town and then put him down.

The evening before we scheduled an appointment to have him put to sleep, he began to eat. Only 3-4 bites of food, but he showed a huge interest in living. He even climbed on my lap and meowed in my face.

He's still alive today. He's not well yet, but he's eating on his own, and he's not so yellow. His bloodwork shows no underlying infection and his breathing has returned to normal. We are more certain than ever that he's on the mend now.
